May 10, 2013 -  Cell phone use was associated with increased risk of acoustic neuroma and cancer of the pituitary gland in a prospective study of more than 790,000 women in the United Kingdom. (1) Acoustic neuroma is a rare, non-malignant tumor that develops on the main nerve leading from the inner ear to the brain. The pituitary gland is an organ that produces hormones which regulate important functions of the body and is located in the middle of the base of the brain.

Women who used cell phones for ten or more years were two-and- a-half times more likely to develop an acoustic neuroma. Their risk of acoustic neuroma increased with the number of years they used cell phones.

Voormalig hoofd van Microsoft Canada wijst op gezondheidsgevaar WiFi op school

Yahoo Finance - Frank Clegg, one of the biggest names in Canadian technology, announced today that he stands behind parents who object to wireless internet in schools.

"There are already children who can't go to school because of headaches, nausea and heart problems from the wireless systems," said Clegg who ran Microsoft Canada for 14 years and now leads a national organization called Citizens 4 Safe Technology (C4ST).

"Some of these kids have a doctor's note to prove it," said Clegg. "This is a real hazard and we shouldn't wait for the government to catch up to the technology. We should exercise caution, especially with children."

On Wednesday the American Academy of Environmental Medicine announced that medical doctors are treating patients who have fallen ill from school wireless systems.

Zendmast op dak basisschool: drie tumorgevallen

volkskrant.nl - Ouders van kinderen van de Troelstraschool in Amsterdam eisen in een rechtszaak dat een UMTS-zendmast onmiddellijk van het dak wordt gehaald.

De ouders hebben er genoeg van: pas over drie weken gaat de UMTS-zendmast van het dak van de Troelstraschool in Amsterdam. De ouders, die vrezen voor de gezondheid van hun kinderen, vinden dat veel te laat en spannen een rechtszaak aan tegen het stadsdeel Geuzenveld/Slotermeer.

De opwinding begon na de zomer toen bekend werd dat bij een leerling, een ex-leerling en een medewerker van de basisschool een hersentumor was geconstateerd. De buurt vreest dat dit ziektebeeld een direct gevolg is van de straling van de zendmast. Eigenaar T-Mobile heeft aangekondigd de mast over drie weken uit te schakelen.
